Mesteños Single Coil Mustang Set
 
A mesteño is a horse that breaks free from its owner to run wild and is the origin for the name mustang. Much like a mesteño, Mustang guitar players prefer to break away from the herd of more traditional guitars. 
 
Mesteños are a single coil set made especially for Mustangs. The neck pickup uses Alnico 3 magnets and is full sounding with tight low end and plenty of vintage chime. The bridge pickup uses Alnico 5 magnets, offers more midrange push, and comes with a steel baseplate which helps prevent the high end from becoming shrill sounding. This set is wax potted, has pushback cloth wire, and the neck pickup is revers-wound, reverse-polarity (RWRP) for hum cancelation when using both pickups. Pickup covers are included in either black or white. 
 
Neck pickup: 6.1k ohms and inductance of 2.8H. Bridge pickup: 6.5k and 3.1H. (Measurements may vary as each pickup is hand wound.)
